GAMBIA BRACES UP AGAINST MAURITANIA IN FRIENDLY
The Scorpions of The Gambia will on Wednesday and Saturday face off against the Maurabitones of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania at the country's only national stadium in Bakau. The friendly is part of preparations both countries are gearing up for their respective CAF, CHAN and World Cup qualifiers next month and in June.
The Mauritania national team arrived in Banjul on Monday morning with a delegation of twenty four players and officials and are lodged at the Seaview Bamboo Hotel in Kololi. At a joint press briefing organised by the Media Unit of the Gambia Football Association, Head Coach of the Maurabitones Nouvou Patrice said his lads are young and are on the process of building a formidable team. 'Our test game against The Gambia will prepare us very well ahead of our qualifiers'. The Gambian gaffer Luciano Mancini posited that its fundamental for his boys knowing full well that a crunch qualifiers awaits them in Abidjan when they face off against the Elephants in a World Cup qualifier next month. 'We are going all out to play very well despite been a friendly because we are ready to take on Ivory Coast next month. My players are good ones but we will also respect the opponents as well'.
The friendly international will kick off at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4:30pm on Wednesday afternoon while the second friendly takes place at the same stadium on Saturday at 5:00pm. An early afternoon kick off will be between Real De Banjul and FUS of Rabat in the CAF Champions League preliminary stages...
