GFA ORGANISES TWO DAY ORIENTATION WORKSHOP FOR JOURNALISTS
A two day orientation for young journalists on the basic skills for reporting is underway at the Gambia Football Association Football House in Kanifing. The programme kicked off on Wednesday13th March and will run until Thursday 14th March, 2013.
Opening the session before the crew of journalists, the Vice Chairman and Spokesperson for the GFA Normalisation Committee Alhagie Omar Sey said journalists are very important instrument in the development and promotion of football. 'You are an instrument that can shape the image of our football and pedal it to a level where it has not reaches', Sey highlighted. Mr Sey further advised the sports media fraternity to be objective and balance in their stories and reports.
GFA Media Officer Bakary B Baldeh explained that the orientation programme is part of the processes of the GFA Normalisation Committee in their bid to bridge the gaps that have hampered the relationship between the media and football authorities. BB continued 'the media is a very important stakeholder in the evolution of our football and within the framework of the GFA Normalisation Committee; we shall endeavour to optimise our relationships with a view to developing Gambian football'.
Resource persons were drawn from both the print and electronic in the persons of Essa Jallow and Lamin both of whom had spells with the BBC in London, Victoria Roberts GFA Confidential Secretary on Transfer Matching System and Marcel Kevin Mendy on GFA Code of Conduct and Rules and Regulations.
Certificates were awarded to all the participants at the end of the orientation workshop that ended on Thursday 14th March, 2013 at the GFA Football House in Kanifing.
