SCORPIONS READY FOR THEIR PREPARATORY MATCH
The Scorpions of the Gambia are bracing up for their first preparatory match against Niger National side on Wednesday 20th March at the Niamey national stadium. This is part of preparations planned for the Gambia ahead of its crucial World Cup Qualifier against the Elephants of Ivory Coast later on Saturday 23rd in Abidjan.
Head Coach Luciano Mancini and his technical side are ready to square off what probably could be the starting line for The Gambia against the Elephants in Ivory Coast. 'We are going to play very well because it is important for the players and all of them are comport here at the hotel', Mancini said ahead of the warm up. The Scorpions coach said all the boys are prepared for the game and it is as well important for the technical side, 'because we will understand the problems and how to adjust them'.
Meanwhile all the invited foreign based players called up for the qualifiers have arrived in Niamey and are in training together with the local lads. With the exclusion of Mustapha Toubabo Jarju and Ebrima Sawaneh among the few notables, talismanic forward Momodou Ceesay and Zaragoza youngster Saihou Gassama are among the roll calls for the Abidjan game. The Scorpions list is also boosted by the inclusion of Momodou Futi Danso, Sanna Nyassi and Abdoulie Ken Mansally who are all in good shape for the warm up against the Nigerien national side.
The Scorpions are lodged at Hotel Universe arranged for them by the Nigerien Football Federation whose officials are expected at the Gambian camp before moving to the national stadium.
