GAMBIA BRACES UP FOR IVORY COAST CONTEST
The Gambian Scorpions are gearing up for their return leg World Cup Qualifier against The Elephants of Ivory Coast bill for June 8th in Banjul. The Scorpions Coach Luciano Mancini has assembled a crop of local based players to be blended with sixteen other foreign based players who are expected to get into Banjul by the end of the week.
Three new inclusions have been sent invitations to play for their national teams. Mustapha Carayol who plays for Middlesbrough in the UK, Ebrima Sawaneh in Belgium and Macoumba Kandji all received their first call ups by the Italy born coach Luciano Mancini. Gambia's new Italy exploit Ali Sowe has also been called for the contest against the Elephants. Ali was featured in Chievo's game against Napoli where he impressed the coach.
A taskforce committee instituted by the Gambia Football Federation is taking charge of the general coordination of the match come Saturday 8th June, 2013. The Committee has announced ticket prices for the much anticipated qualifier as follows: VIP D500:00 Covered Pavilions: D200 Opposite Covered D100:00 and Wings at D50:00.
The match is schedule to kick off at 16:30pm at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Meanwhile, the Elephants are expected to arrive in Banjul on Thursday 6th June.
